Overview
EnvBanner is a browser extension that adds color-coded environment banners to web pages based on URL patterns. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data or browsing information.
Data Collection
EnvBanner does not collect any data. Specifically:
- No personal information is collected
- No browsing history is recorded or transmitted
- No analytics or tracking scripts are used
- No cookies are set by the extension
- No data is sent to any external server
Local Storage
EnvBanner stores your configuration (URL patterns, colors, labels, and display preferences) locally in your browser using Chrome's built-in storage API (chrome.storage.local). This data:
- Never leaves your browser
- Is not accessible to any external service
- Can be deleted at any time by removing the extension
- May sync across your Chrome profiles if you have Chrome Sync enabled — this is a Chrome feature, not something controlled by EnvBanner
Permissions
EnvBanner requests the minimum permissions necessary to function:
- activeTab — to read the URL of the current tab and inject the banner
- storage — to save your configuration locally
EnvBanner does not request permissions to read page content, access your browsing history, or communicate with external servers.
Third-Party Services
EnvBanner does not integrate with or send data to any third-party services, APIs, or analytics platforms.
Open Source
EnvBanner's source code is publicly available for review. You can inspect exactly what the extension does at any time.
Changes to This Policy
If we ever update this privacy policy, we will post the updated version on this page with a revised "last updated" date. Given our commitment to not collecting data, we do not anticipate significant changes.
